A forceps is a metal tool that is used in the final stage of labour when no progress is seen, it helps the baby to show the way out of the vagina. Pregnancies never go as planned, our doctors and staff are trained in this field which allows them to make quick decisions that lower risk to both mother and baby and to avoid c-section surgery.
This assisted technique of delivery is used when:-
The forceps are used in the final stage when the tool is inserted in the vagina during the rest time between the push. The forceps are placed on either side of the head of the baby carefully. Both parts of the tool secure the baby's head and if the baby's head is facing upward then the doctor uses forceps to turn the baby’s head during contraction. As the labour progress in the next contraction, the doctor guides the baby’s head to the birth canal with the help of forceps, and delivery is done.
Using forceps delivery is very uncommon. Our doctor and staff are trained and experienced in using the tool forceps without any complications. We ensure the shortest hospital stay and fastest recovery.
The procedure of forceps delivery has certain risks:-
The delivery time of the forceps delivery is the same as the normal delivery, it takes about 5-6 weeks to recover.
The delivery should be avoided if the baby’s head is big or the baby's head is not clear.
Complications related to forceps delivery are not that severe or life-threatening.
No, using forceps in each delivery is not common. Forceps delivery is only used when the mother is tired and unable to push further.
