Forceps Delivery

A forceps is a metal tool that is used in the final stage of labour when no progress is seen, it helps the baby to show the way out of the vagina. Pregnancies never go as planned, our doctors and staff are trained in this field which allows them to make quick decisions that lower risk to both mother and baby and to avoid c-section surgery.

What We Do

Forceps delivery is an assisted vaginal birth method used when labor needs support—typically if the baby isn’t progressing through the birth canal or if the mother is too exhausted to push effectively. We use specially designed forceps, carefully and gently, to help guide the baby out during contractions. Our experienced team ensures that the procedure is done safely, minimizing risk to both mother and baby, and only when medically necessary. We prioritize your well-being while ensuring a smooth and healthy delivery outcome.

How We Help You

In situations where labor becomes prolonged or challenging, we step in with skilled care to ensure a safe delivery for both you and your baby. If a forceps-assisted delivery is needed, our experienced obstetricians act with precision, care, and compassion—always putting your comfort and safety first. We closely monitor labor, explain every step, and take swift, expert action when necessary. After delivery, we provide thorough care, monitor recovery, and support you with everything you need for a healthy postpartum experience.

Procedure

The forceps are used in the final stage when the tool is inserted in the vagina during the rest time between the push. The forceps are placed on either side of the head of the baby carefully. Both parts of the tool secure the baby's head and if the baby's head is facing upward then the doctor uses forceps to turn the baby’s head during contraction. As the labour progress in the next contraction, the doctor guides the baby’s head to the birth canal with the help of forceps, and delivery is done.
